Coming Soon: Community Tool Kit

In an effort to expand the Infant Safe Sleep message and provide tools to local communities, a new Community Tool Kit has been developed. The Tool Kit provides information on safest way for babies to sleep and specific activities to ensure infant safe sleep practices. Recommendations and tools are provided for each target audience: retailers, grassroots organizations, healthcare providers and childcare. This item will be available for order soon.

Explaining the Decline in SIDS

Have we solved the mystery of SIDS? Tomorrow’s Child is working with national researchers and experts from our Michigan Department of Community Health to attempt to answer that question. From 1999 through 2004 infant deaths attributed to SIDS have decreased almost 70% without a corresponding decline in overall postneonatal deaths. Has there been a diagnostic shift? Has there been an increase in other causes of death and in what categories? Tomorrow’s Child has always fostered research and is gratified that your gifts support Michigan-based studies.

Infant Safe Sleep Recommendations

Breaking new ground with state Infant Safe Sleep recommendations

With leadership from the Governor’s Children’s Cabinet, Michigan has the distinction of being one of the few states to officially endorse Infant Safe Sleep recommendations. Tomorrow’s Child was awarded funds by the Michigan Department of Community Health to implement those recommendations. Focusing on communities with highest disparity and partnering with a host of champions, these innovative strategies offer a model for other states:
